On November 9th, the US Capitol Christmas Tree entered Wyoming on Interstate 90 and was escorted to Sheridan by Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. As the trailer used to haul the tree measured out to 80 feet in length, it made a quick stop at the Sheridan-Dietz Port of Entry to purchase an oversize load permit. With the help of the Sheridan Police Department, the US Forest Service, and WHP Dispatch and Troopers, the tree exited into Sheridan where it spent the night.

A 17-year-old young lady from Lander harvested a monster bull moose near Pinedale. Kimberlee Carey, a seasoned young hunter, drew her first bull moose tag and got lucky with a great bull. The bull has initially scored 149 2/8 points in Boone and Crockett, making it a record book entry. Congratulations Kimberlee!

A four-year-old child playing with a lighter started a house fire in a closet on Monday in a single family home just north of Pavillion. The fire was reported at 9:30 a.m. and it was quickly extinguished without any injuries and only minor damage.
A series of meetings to describe the community-based Wind River Indian Reservation Agricultural Resource Management Plan, and to seek input from residents about agricultural issues and solutions in their region of the reservation, are planned in four Fremont County communities.
A single-vehicle rollover has resulted in the death of two people and the injury to another on Plunkett Road. The crash, which was reported around 11 a.m., resulted in the ejection of all three occupants of the vehicle. The two who died were apparently killed instantly. The third was rushed to SageWest Health Care Hospital in Lander, according to reports from the scene.

She will be honored at the annual WYSA Legislative Breakfast in Cheyenne on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 along with State Legislative award winners.

Russell Naef, 19, was fishing on his birthday out on Ocean Lake this weekend when he reeled in this lunker of a Northern Pike. “It goes without saying that he was pretty excited,” said Mom Jeannie on Monday morning. The Pavillion teen decided he wanted to go fishing on his birthday and caught this prize right after his birthday dinner. He reportedly expressed surprise at catching the big fish as he said he didn’t know there were Northern Pike in Ocean Lake. Happy Birthday Russell!
Riverton High School Choir Director Jon Marquez reported that the school’s show choirs performed well at the the big Old West Choir Fest at Scottsbluff, competing against schools from three states.
A 12-year-old boy listening to an MP3 player and wearing ear buds failed to hear a train coming from behind despite blasts from the train’s air horn and wandered into the path of a BNSF locomotive in Thermopolis Sunday morning and was killed.
