Jumping cow and arrests highlight today’s police blotter reports

A Riverton-area resident complained to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday just before 10 a.m. about a cow jumping over a fence into his property. The athletic cow apparently has made the jump before, according to the resident, who was not identified.

Deputies made one arrest in the last 24-hours, that of Alfred Platt, 47, Riverton on a Probation Revocation charge.

In Riverton, Captain Eric Murphy said two arrests were made since 7 a.m. Wednesday. John Chavez, 29, Riverton, was picked up on a charge of Tresspassing and Ed Brown, 52, Riverton, was arrested on a Disturbing The Peace charge.

There was no report from the Lander Police Thursday morning.

The Riverton Volunteer Fire Department answered one call Wednesday, for a reported structure fire at 2:58 p.m.

At the county detention center in Lander, the Sheriff’s Department reported a total of 159 inmates that they are currently responsible for, including 143 in the jail at Lander and 16 at other locations, including home detention, substance abuse treatment programs and detention facilities outside of the county.
