(Lander, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Weed and Pest Council has awarded Lander’s Sollie Cadman with the Harold P. Alley Award.

Cadman, the city’s outgoing Weed and Pest Supervisor, was recognized Tuesday evening at the Lander City Council meeting. According to Mayor Mick Wolfe, Cadman was given the award for his work with the council, which included serving as the secretary and president, as well as working closely with state legislators.

“This was quite an honor,” Cadman said Tuesday.

He said the award is usually give to professors and people who work behind the scenes. Rarely is it given to someone working on the ground. Cadman believes this could be the first time the award was given to somewhat without a degree in the field.

“My peers across the state actually voted this in,” he said.
