County Commission to look into a radio replacement process

By Joshua Scheer, reporter,

(Lander, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Commission is set tackle the process of replacing radios for county employees during its meeting tomorrow, which is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Fremont County Courthouse.

The topic has come up multiple times in recent meetings, as replacement digital radios range in cost from roughly $2,000 to $5,000. WyoLink service is used by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and other departments. Discussion has surrounded what priced radios are appropriate for which department.

The radio replacement process is the lone new item on the county’s new business list on the agenda. Action will take place after a lunch break, ending at 1:30 p.m.

At 9:15 a.m. Transportation Superintendent Dave Pendleton will give a department report. An hour later, Barb Mabry will be recognized for 30 years of service. Following a short break, at 10:30 a.m. Shoshone National Forest district rangers Steve Schacht and Rick Metzger will give an update.

Fremont County Attorney Brian Varn is scheduled to meet with the commission in an executive session to discuss personnel.

The 2013 holiday list will also be reviewed.
