WYDOT Crack sealing projects underway around Fremont County
(Riverton, Wyo.) – A $991,000 project to crack-seal highways is under way throughout Central and Northwest Wyoming, and work will continue through March.
Work has been ongoing in Fremont County since mid-November on Wyoming 28 west of Lander, Wyoming 136 (Gas Hills Road), and Wyoming 789 (between Lander and Hudson).
Other Fremont County highways scheduled for crack sealing include U.S. 26/287 near Kinnear, U.S. 287 near Fort Washakie, and U.S. 20/26 near Waltman.
“The schedule and sequence will be affected by weather and road conditions,” according to Erik Smith, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Lander. “The crew is jumping around as weather allows; this week they are working in the Fort Washakie area.”
In late January, crack sealing is scheduled to begin in Hot Springs County on Wyoming 120, Wyoming 175, and U.S. 20/Wyoming 789. Wyoming 434 in Washakie County is scheduled to receive crack sealing work in February.
Crack sealing in Park County is scheduled for February and March on Wyoming 290, Wyoming 120, Wyoming 291, and U.S. 14/16/20.
Highway Improvement, Inc., of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the prime contractor on the district-wide crack sealing project. Contract completion date is June 15, 2013.
