Police Blotter: arrests

Lander Police Department

30-year-old Katie Eagleroad of Lander was arrested for probation violation.

After making a felony stop on Wood Street in Lander Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement discovered the individual they were looking for was not in the vehicle they stopped. An alert was released earlier in the day, warning law enforcement that 29-year-old Cas Howard, a male from Cheyenne, would be traveling to the Lander area. Officers were also given information on the make, model and license plate number of the car Howard would be in. The correct vehicle was stopped and the individuals that were taken into custody were released after officers confirmed none of them were the suspect they were looking for. Howard was apprehended by law enforcement later in the day outside of Fremont County.  According to Chief Jim Carey of the Lander Police Department, Howard had several warrants out for his arrest including escape, fraud and resisting arrest. He also said Howard had violent tendencies in the past with law enforcement. The warrants for Howard’s arrest came from Albany County. Chief Carey did say the felony stop “went well” and also mentioned the department is constantly training for felony stops.
