(Lander, Wyo.) – Famed Wyoming author Craig Johnson is holding a book signing Thursday at Main Street Books.

Johnson is the author of the Sheriff Walt Longmire series, which recently became the basis of an A&E cable television show titled “Longmire.” There are eight books in the series.

“As the Crow Flies,” published in May, is the latest in the series.

Co-owner of Main Street Books Amanda Winchester said Johnson’s signing is free, open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“He’s going to come do a book signing,” Winchester said. “He might discuss his next book, and he might read a little from it.”

She added that there’s a possibility he will discuss what will happen on the next season of Longmire, which ended its first season in August.

Winchester said Johnson has made a point of visiting Lander once a year for the last four or five years.

Main Street Books, Winchester said, has most of Johnson’s books available to purchase for him to sign, and what she doesn’t have at the moment is coming in on Thursday.

Depending on the turnout, Johnson will likely be around for an hour or two.

“He’s a great speaker,” Winchester said.
