(Lander, Wyo.) – Lander Volunteer Fire Department Administrator Nick Hudson said Friday morning’s fire at Tony’s Pizza stayed on restaurant’s upper deck.

He said the fire was caused by an outdoor outlet on the patio that shorted.

“Luckily it got called in pretty quick,” Hudson said.

The call came in at 5:07 a.m., and LVFD, the Lander Police Department and Fremont County EMS responded. There were no injuries.

Hudson said the damage was primarily to the deck’s railing and little to the floor.

“It did not get into the restaurant,” he said.

“It’s all good,” Hudson said. “It went well. I’m glad it didn’t get into the restaurant at all.”

In a post on Facebook, Tony’s Pizzashack said the restaurant would be open as usual t0day. “Thank you and God Bless the Lander Volunteer Fire Department for saving me from a fire,” the post said. ”

Lander Police Chief Jim Carey credited his second in command for noticing the blaze.

“Lt. Chuck Carr had just left the police department,” Carey said. “He’s the one that discovered the fire at the business.”

Carey commended Carr’s vigilence and the fire department’s response for saving the building, adding that at that time in the morning it could have gone unnoticed for some time.

“We could be looking at a couple brick walls (if it hadn’t been caught),” he said.
