Today is MLK, Jr. – Wyoming Equality Day across the state; Equality March set in Riverton; Presidential Inauguration in D.C.
(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Presidential Inauguration is on tap today in Washington, D.C. and statewide there will be observances of Martin Luther King, Jr. – Wyoming Equality Day, including a march in Riverton beginning at 1 p.m. Other formal observances and marches are planned in Cheyenne and Casper.
The Riverton march, sponsored by Rez Action, begins at Riverton City Park at 1 p.m. and proceeds to Riverton City Hall.
Despite the national holiday, The Wyoming Legislature will be in session today.
Meanwhile, a handfull of Fremont County residents have made the trip to Washington, D.C. to see the public inaugural of President Barack Obama’s second term. Included is the Fremont County Democratic Party Chair Ruth Urbikeit and a group from the Wind River Indian Reservation, who will attend a Native American Inaugural Ball following today’s festivities in the nation’s capitol.
