Police Blotter; Arrests; Car chase in Lander on New Year’s Day; 10 collisions reported in Riverton

(Lander, Wyo.) – Thursday’s law enforcement recap from across from Fremont County.

Riverton Police Department


Sky Lovato, 25, Riverton, Contempt of Court Warrant.

Tashina Birdshead, 31, Ethete, Probation Revocation.

At 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to a residence on the 900 block of Forest Drive for a report of a TV’s surround sound system turned up too loud since 10 p.m.

At 10:01 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the Comfort Inn and Suites for a report of a Casper guest who skipped out on a $219.24 bill. The incident is under investigation.

Three minor wrecks occurred within a 15 minute window between the 300 and 600 block of East Main Street on Wednesday. The first was reported at 12:04 p.m. and the last was at 12:18 p.m. According to and RPD report, a couple individuals complained of neck injuries, though they refused medical assistance. Earlier at 10:58 a.m., another wreck was reported on the 400 block of East Main Street. At 8:34 p.m., another wreck occurred on the 500 block of East Main.

At 12:21 p.m., a minor wreck was reported on South Seventh Street East behind Archers.

At 2:04 p.m., police responded to a hit and run report on the 2300 block of East Adams Avenue. The caller said someone hit his vehicle earlier in the day.

At 4:11 p.m., police received a call from Burger King about a vehicle that backed into the drive through said at 1:48 a.m. earlier in the day.

At 4:18 p.m., police responded to a wreck on the 2100 block of North Federal Boulevard.

At 4:31 p.m., police were called to Walmart for a shoplifting report. A 39-year-old female was cited.

At 7:57 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Liberty Drive for a report of a Ford Expedition that backed into a dumpster.

Lander Police Department 


Timothy Scott Bennett, 33, of Lander was arrested for eluding police, possession of a controlled substance, trespassing, and theft of a vehicle on Jan. 1. At 5:31 p.m. officers responded to a agency assist on Tweed Lane. A truck was dragging a 1994 red Pontiac belonging to Fremont Towing. While being towed the red car knocked over mailboxes, finally to be abandoned. Later at 7:30 p.m., officers found the truck and Bennett at the corner of 9th and Canyon. Bennett got into his vehicle and fled the scene. After a chase that ended up at the Rawlins junction, Bennett pulled over and was arrested.


At 11:21 p.m. on the 2nd officers responded to a call on the 1000 block of McDougall in regard to individuals knocking on doors in the neighborhood. Officers arrived but were unable to locate the suspects.

At 4:15 a.m. this morning officers responded to a call about an intoxicated person wandering around the radio station on the 1500 block of Main Street. Officers were unable to locate the individual.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Department


Reuben Behan, 27, of Riverton was arrested on a warrant for Contempt of Court and Failure to Appear.


Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of Squaw Creek Road in Lander at 12:06 p.m. on the 2nd where a garbage truck collided with a Nissan.

At 12:42 p.m. on the 2nd deputies responded to a call from Riverton Memorial Hospital where a female was causing disorderly conduct by becoming physically combative on the medical floor. Deputies requested back up to help transport the individual to jail.

At 1:35 p.m. a garage on the 100 block of Firethorn Lane in Riverton was broken into according to the Sheriff’s report. The garage door was destroyed.

At 2:30 p.m. on the 2nd, a 250 Honda motorcycle was reported stolen from a residence at the 2300 block of Squaw Creek Road in Lander. The event is under investigation with a possibility of the vehicle being sold to someone in Worland according to the report.

At 4:01 p.m. a semi trailer unhooked from the semi on the 600 block of South Federal Boulevard in Riverton. Traffic was backed up momentarily.
