Cable series “Disappeared” to feature Amy Wroe Bechtel story on Monday
A production filmed the episode in the summer of 2012, interviewing the original detective in the case and Bechtel’s family.
Amy disappeared on July 24, 1997. Authorities believe she went on the Loop Road to look at the course of an upcoming 10-kilometer race. No trace of the then 24-year-old Lander woman has been found, but the investigation into the case remains open.
”They contacted me and they just asked if they could come to our area and if there were some people we could talk to and interview and try to figure out and get some information and put it out to the public, again,” said Fremont County Sheriff’s Detective John Zerga in an interview with County10.com last June. “Because it is a cold case it has kind of died out and they thought that maybe if they re-ran some of the information that was out there, maybe we could possibly get a lead out of it.”
According to TVGuide.com, the episode is titled “Missing in the Mountains” and will air at 7 p.m. locally.
This is the second case from Fremont County that Investigation Discovery has featured in the last month. The series “Nightmare Next Door” featured the 2004 murder of Riverton woman Tammy Watts.
