(Fremont County, Wyo.) – When the Lander Valley Tigers and Riverton Wolverines tangle on the field at Bill Bush Stadium in Lander tonight, it won’t be the only battle. The LVHS Marching Tigers and the RHS Marching Wolverines will also be there for a battle of the bands. It will make for great entertainment.
At last weekend’s Wyoming High School State Marching Band Festival at the Casper Events Center, both of the county’s large high schools competed, with Riverton coming back with a Superior Rating and Lander Valley receiving an Excellent.
In Caption Awards, Riverton received an Outstanding Auxiliary and an Outstanding Drum Major. The Marching Tigers had one Caption Award, that for Outstanding Drum Major.
At Tuesday’s FCSD#25 school board meeting, Trustee Dean Peranteaux mentioned the success of the Riverton band. “Our kids did an amazing job and it was a really cool experience to see,” he said. “Our kids were fantastic.” Other board members nodded in agreement.
Superintendent Terry Snyder said he attended the Marching Band Festival last year, but this year chose to travel to Laramie to see his first Wyoming Cowboy football game. “I should’ve gone to the Marching Band Festival,” he laughed.
