(Fremont County, Wyo.) – After six months without a director, the Fremont County Library Board has hired Tracy Cook from Montana to manage the county’s system.
On Monday, Cook traveled the county to meet with the public and staff at each of the libraries in Dubois, Riverton and Lander. (Read about her time in Lander here.) Cook has a degree in library science, and has spent more than a decade working for the Montana Library System, primarily as a consultant to boards and commissions on library law and human resources topics.
Board member Don Newton said the board offered her the position after an interview on Tuesday, and she has accepted. Cook could start as early as Dec. 9.
“We’re really excited about it,” Newton said. “She just has an incredibly diverse background with libraries. … We think she’ll be a great fit for Fremont County.”
The library board has been seeking a replacement for Matt Nojonen, who resigned in May. In September, the board took two potential candidates around the county to speak with the public, but ultimately neither of them were selected.
