Police Blotter: Arrests; Armed Robbery in Riverton; Man arrested in violent domestic abuse; Pot bust reported

(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Tuesday’s law enforcement wrap-up from across the county. All persons cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.


Fremont County Sheriff’s Department


Jeremiah Bush, 37, Lander, on a Contempt of Court warrant

Claudia Duran, 39, Riverton, Driving While Under the Influence. Duran was taken into custody after causing a car crash at Hill Street and Riverview Road west of Riverton at 4:28 p.m. There were no injuries.

James Hallett, 43, Lander, on three (3) arrest warrants for Contempt of Court

The Fremont County Detention Center currently has 154 inmates it is responsible for. Of these, 142 are being held in the Lander jail, six are in substance abuse programs around the state, one is on home detention and five inmates are being housed out of the county.


The Wyoming Highway Patrol was dispatched to 12600 Highway 26 near Riverton Monday at 7:39 a.m. where a rear-end collision between a 2007 white Chevrolet Siverado and a green Chevrolet Blazer was reported. The pick-up ran into the back of the SUV.

The Fremont County Boys Group Home in Riverton reported finding some marijuana on one of the residents there at 10 a.m. Monday.

A theft of property was reported from an address on the Sweeney Basin Road near Sweetwater Station.

A resident in the Crowheart area reported a Honda ATV, and enclosed cargo trailer and a car dolly trailer were all taken from his property in the past several days.

A slash pile fire was reported in the vicinity of the 3500 block of Highway 26 near Dubois at 6:15 p.m. Monday night.


Riverton Police Department


Zedekiah Mills, 20, Riverton, Possession of Marijuana, Use of Marijuana. Mills was found with 16.7 grams of marijuana in his possession following a traffic stop for a headlight being out. A passenger in the car, a 21-year-old female, was also cited for use of a Controlled Substance, marijuana. A Riverton police officer pulled over the Chevrolet Malibu Mills was driving in the 100 block of East Sunset and upon reaching the vehicle, noticed “an overwhelming smell of marijuana” coming from inside the vehicle. Also recovered were several pipes, a grinder and other  paraphernalia.

Charles Klinger, 44, Riverton. Domestic Violence Assault. Police were called to an address on Sioux Avenue at 2:26 p.m. after receiving a call that another party had just broken up a fight between a woman and a man. Upon arrival, police found the victim who said Klinger had beaten her up after the two had an argument. Klinger accused the woman of cheating on her and, according to a police report, he ripped off her bathrobe, ripped off her shirt, shoved her onto a table and began slapping her in the face. Police found the woman with a large scrape in the center of her back, a red welt on her lower back, a bruise on her left forearm and red marks on her face. Klinger was taken into custody.

Dennis Adams, 38, Riverton, on a Probation Revocation

A 20-year-old Shoshoni female was issued a traffic citation after causing a traffic crash Monday in the 1700 block of North Federal. Both vehicles involved were green Ford Explorers. The woman was driving a 1998 model and the vehicle she crashed into was a 1993 model. There were no injuries.

The RPD responded to an armed robbery at 12:07 this Tuesday morning at the West Main Maverik Store. According to an initial police report, a male subject entered the store and demanded the store’s money. Police withheld comment on the manner in which the man demanded the money until the investigation is complete. “We are actively working this case and reviewing video surveillance footage,” said Captain Eric Murphy. “The crime scene was processed and our investigation is proceeding this morning.

A family fight was reported at 3:35 a.m. in the 400 block of Sycamore Drive in Wind River Estates Monday morning where a female had allegedly kicked a male subject in the face and then left the scene. When officers arrived, they could see people inside the residence but no one would open the door. A search of the immediate area did not turn up the female. On a second attempt, a male subject finally answered the door but was uncooperative. Police left the scene.

A 1980 model Ford dump truck rolled into a 2011 Ford F-350 pickup in the 2300 block of Monroe Avenue at 7:32 a.m. Monday. Over $1,000 damage was reported.

A problem with an elementary student who allegedly threatened another student at Ashgrove School was handled internally by the school and no law enforcement action was taken.

The BIA Wind River Police Department turned over a sexual assault case to the RPD after determining that the crime had occurred  in Riverton. No other details were released.

Police were advised by store officials at Walmart that video surveillance tapes revealed a former employee had entered the store an allegedly stolen a television set, a TV stand and various DVDs on November 22nd. The suspect allegedly entered the store by cutting a lock off of the Garden Center doors. The case has been referred to detectives for investigation.

Police were notified of a possible fraud involving an employee who allegedly was not turning in receipts from renters that he had allegedly collected. The incident is under investigation.


Lander Police Department 


Brandi Inguerson, 34, Riverton, on a Fremont County warrant,  and Allen Shiers, 31, Upton, on a Crook County warrant. Police Chief Jim Carey said officers recognized the two while on patrol in the 100 block of Main Street and took them into custody.


Police were called to the 100 block of Wyoming Street Monday at 8:03 a.m. on the report of a theft. Upon arriving, police were informed it was an internal matter and no law enforcement action was needed. Police left the scene.

A domestic violence assault in the 600 block of East Main Street that was called in at 3:20 p.m. is under investigation. No other details were available.

Police mediated a dispute between a 12-year-old potential runaway and family members Monday at 8:17 p.m. in the 100 block of Rail Lane. No law enforcement action was taken.

Police responded to a fire call on Tweed Lane, but discovered it was a trash pile that was burning. No law enforcement action was taken.

A man attempted to purchase alcohol at 1:19 a.m. today at the Maverik Store in the 100 block of East Main, but when he used a credit card, it came back as a “lost card-please take.” At that point the suspect, identified a a 6 foot tall white male with reddish hair and a goatee left the store and was seen leaving in a brown 2000s model Chevrolet pickup bearing 14 county Wyoming license plates. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
