District 25 School Board to meet Tuesday; One staff resignation to be reviewed
Included for consideration is a letter of resignation from the District’s Teacher of the Deaf Rosemary Patterson. In her letter to the school board, Patterson said she would resign at the end of the current school year “to further my career in deaf education.” She has been employed in that position for the past two years. “I could not have asked for a better staff and administration to work with during my beginning years as a teacher,” she wrote in the letter.
In one other action item, an out-of-state travel request from the Riverton High School Jazz Band will be considered. The 19-member band is planning to attend the University of Northern Colorado’s Jazz Festival on April 18-21, this year. Cost of the trip is listed at $7,000. Activities Director Jeremy Hill has recommended approval of the request.
Superintendent Terry Snyder is also expected to review the latest enrollment numbers with the board. As of Feb. 21st, the FCSD#25 student count was 2,538, a total of 21 more students than at the end of the 2011-12 school year. There are currently 710 students at RHS, 561 at Riverton Middle School, 575 students in grades 3 through 5 at Rendezvous School, and a total of 668 K-2 students, including 280 at Aspen Park Elementary, and 167 at Jackson and 221 at Ashgrove. The District’s Alternative School has an enrollment of 24 students, including nine students in 9th grade, seven in 7th grade, five in 11th grade and three in 12th grade.
