CWC Basketball splits vs. Casper College, women win thriller, men lose in OT

CWC Rustler(Riverton.Wyo.) – The Central Wyoming College Rustlers basketball teams split a doubleheader Saturday night against league foe Casper College.

Lady Rustlers hit shot with 4 seconds remaining to beat Casper 

Casper College took a 35-25 halftime lead against the Lady Rustlers Saturday night in Riverton, but with a strong second half surge the Lady Rustlers fought right back in the game. With the game tied at 52 the Lady Rustlers Marrisa Hogan drove the floor and made a layup with 0:0 4 seconds remaining to beat the Lady T-Birds 54-52. The Lady Rustlers were led by Hogan’s (16 points and 5 rebounds). And Stephanie Smith’s (18 points and 6 rebounds). The Lady Rustlers are in action on Wednesday at Western Wyoming at 5:30pm.

Casper College men hit big shots to beat CWC in Overtime 

It was a show down between the first place Rustlers and the second place Thunderbirds on Saturday night before a packed Rustler Gym in Riverton  The Rustlers jumped out to an early five point lead in the first half to see it erased going into half as the Thunderbirds took a 33-29 lead. The second 20 minutes was a back and forth affair but the Thunderbirds hit a deep three to put the game into overtime and never looked back taking a 90-77 win. The Rustlers face Western Wyoming on Wednesday at 7:30pm in Rock Springs.
