Police Chief Jim Carey said police were called to the 700 block of Wood Street Tuesday at 10:51 p.m. to investigate a reported criminal entry to a camper parked at that location. Carey said the camper was apparently unlocked, but the owner did not report any items missing.

A shoplifting incident reported at 11:13 a.m. at the Maverik Country Store, in the 100 block of East Main, was under investigation. No other information was available.

Carey said the LPD assisted Fremont County and Riverton Police on a search for a suspect in a stolen vehicle report out of Riverton.

In a second agency assist, Carey said LPD assisted the County Sheriff in an arrest in the 500 block of North 4th Street at 5:29 p.m. for a man wanted on warrants. (See FCSO arrest log above)

With only 12 calls for service on Tuesday, Carey said it was a quiet day in which Lander residents acted responsibly on the slick and snow covered streets. “We had only one motorist assist helping someone get unstuck from a snowbank,” he said. “Monday, however, was a different story as there were numerous fender benders owing the slushy conditions, but, no injuries.” Carey said it was fortunate that the trees had not yet leafed out otherwise the heavy snow might’ve caused tree limbs to come down on power lines and such, which he said was not an uncommon occurrence for wet spring snows.
