(Riverton, Wyo.) – The 7th annual Ready To Ride, Rope Your Dreams Bull Riding Clinic drew a large crowd to the Central Wyoming College Equine Center Arena Sunday afternoon for the “graduation” of the three-day event. The graduates rode, some for the first time ever, a steer, a mini-bull or a bull during the culminating event of this popular program.
Not to be outdone by her male counterparts, Hailey Miller scored a 71 on only her second ride on a mini-bull ever, placing third in that event, just two points behind winner Derrick Grant and one point behind Dillon Grant.
There were 40 participants in the three day-long clinic, held annually by Riverton Police Department School Resource Officer Cody Myers. The program started seven years ago with only six participants from the local community, but today had participants from as far as Glendo and Jackson, stock contractors from as far as Jay Em and spectators from surrounding states as parents and grandparents made the drive to see their kids and grandkids Cowboy Up.
Three bullfighters assisted in the arena, along with a score of others managing the young cowboys and cowgirls, the livestock, and taking care of the judging.
A banquet was scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday to award the buckles and other awards earned by the participants.
