Riverton school board to meet in regular session tonight; Personnel actions highlight agenda

(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Trustees of Fremont County School District #25 in Riverton meet tonight in regular session with a full agenda. Included at the opening of the meetng are out-of-state travel request presentations from a student in the Riverton High School FBLA program, the RHS Key Club and the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Class. The District 25 Recreation Board has scheduled a presentation for its Volunteer of the Year award and to a Friend of Recreation award and Jackie Meeker from Central Wyoming College will update the trustees on the BOCHES program and the current status of Concurrent and Dual Enrollment statistics. A group of parents concerned over the recent release of a number of assistant football coaches will be also be heard.

Action items at tonight’s 7 p.m. board meeting at the District’s Administrative headquarters at 121 North 5th Street West include consideration of the out-of-state travel requests; accepting resignations from RHS Assistant Varsity Football Coach Derek Watson, TLQ and Title IV Coordinator Douglas Elgin, RHS Language Arts Teacher Kim Krieger and Rendezvous Behavior Resource Room Teacher Leslie Schafer-Myers. In other personnel action the board will be asked to offer a contract to Jeff Sandlian as the Assistant Principal at Rendezvous Elementary for the 2013-14 school term and consider approval of contracts to Cree Nuendorf as the Alternative School Language Arts teacher; Tonisha Burden as Teacher of the Hearing Impaired, Keith Brauneis as RHS Assistant Football Coach, Necole Sanderson as Jackson Reading Coach; and Zachary Even as Aspen Park Art Teacher.

Due to the Federal sequestration budget cuts, the Indian Education Grant has been reduced from $192,888 to $183,478, with the cuts coming from the supplies portion of the grant, according to Superintendent Terry Snyder. The board will be asked to accept the reduced grant.

A bid will be presented for approval for the District’s Food Service Management Program at the meeting and an administration recommendation will be presented to declare some District items as surplus.

The trustees have also scheduled an executive session to discuss a student discipline issue and for personnel issues.
