Christian Jones, 24, Riverton, Driving While Under the Influence and Destruction of Property. Police received a tip that a man was in front of City Hall slashing tires of vehicles with a state license plate. City Hall is also the location of the Police Department.
Riverton Police issued citations to juveniles involved in letting the air out of car tires parked at Riverton High School over the weekend.
A resident on North 8th West reported mail being stolen from their mail box. The investigation has been turned over to U. S. Postal inspectors.
The owner of a small tan dog was contacted after neighbors complained the dog had been barking for three consecutive hours at an address in the 1000 block of Roosevelt Avenue.
Police took a cold report of a hit and run crash from a motorist who discovered their vehicle had been struck at some point in town.
Residents on Freedom Drive complained of harassment from a neighbor who allegedly were constantly “loud” and were looking in their home’s windows. The offending party was contacted by police.
An off-duty Riverton Police officer was involved in a minor traffic collision with his patrol vehicle Monday at 1:48 p.m. at the intersection of East Monroe and South Federal. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Department was called to investigate the crash. According to a report from the FCSO, RPD officer John Gardner turned left on a yellow arrow from South Federal and into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Darell Steenbock. Steenbock was taken to Riverton Memorial Hospital for observation, Gardner was not injured. The entire incident was captured on the patrol vehicle’s video system. No citations were issued in the incident at the request of Mr. Steenbock, according to the FCSO report.
Police are investigating an attempted burglary at a residence in th 800 block of North 16th East. A resident told police someone had tried to break into the home through a door, but they were unsuccessful.
A man riding a bicycle down the High School Hill on West Main crashed halfway down the hill and suffered head and leg injuries. According to an RPD report, the man was taken to Riverton Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment and then taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Casper for specialized treatment. His identity and condition was not reported. The crash was reported at 5:18 p.m.
Police contacted the driver of a red Ford Explorer who had allegedly been “speeding” repeatedly through the parking lot in front of Bealls Department Store and Legacy Molding on West Main Street. The driver was advice to slow down in the parking lot.
The owner of a dog in the 100 block of West Park Avenue was contacted after neighbors complained at 10:49 p.m. that the dog had been barking for some three hours.

Ryan Apodaca, 32, Riverton, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude and Reckless Driving
Captain Ryan Lee issued a statement Tuesday morning on an incident at 10:11 a.m. Monday on North Federal Boulevard in Riverton in which a motorist attempted to flee from an officer performing a traffic stop.
“Ryan Apodaca failed to stop his vehicle as directed and accelerated up to 50 mph before reaching the intersection of Webbwood Road,” Lee said. “Apodaca almost caused a traffic collision at the intersection before accelerating a short distance (west) down Webbwood Road and stopping near the intersection of Broadway Avenue.” The motorist was arrestd and jailed. According to Lee’s statement, the Deputy was attempting to stop and check on the welfare of Apodaca, as he was the subject of an Attempt to Locate which had been filed the previous day.
Lee also issued a statement on a vehicle theft reported from a residence in the 1100 block of River Lane early Tuesday. “The man reported he had started his 1988 brown Jeep Cherokee and then went inside for a cup of coffee. The victim reported hearing commotion outside, and upon investigation, observed his vehicle driving away. The vehicle was signed in as stolen and local law enforcement is on the lookout.”
Under investigation is a report of animals that appear to be starving in a pasture east of Pavillion near the intersection of East Powerline and Tunnel Hill roads. The animals involved included horses, sheep and cattle.
Deputies have under investigation a reported house burglary at an address on Whiston Street in Dubois.
