(Lander, Wyo.) – A group of visiting Rotarians from India are being hosted in Lander for the next three days on a reciprocal Friendship Exchange. The visiting Rotarians hail from District 3250 in India and are being hosted by the local Colorado/Wyoming District 5440. The visiting Rotarians began their trip here a week ago in Fort Collins and have since visited Loveland, Estes Park, Cheyenne and, most recently, Casper. The four visitors will journey on to Jackson for several days after their stay in Lander, and then head to the Rotary District Conference in Steamboat Springs.
Local host coordinator for the visit is Jack and Diantha States of Lander, who earlier this year visited India and participated in polio immunization clinics as part of Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign.
The Casper clubs handed off the visiting Rotarians earlier Sunday near Muddy Gap, and the Lander club hosted a luncheon picnic for the group at the Sawmill Campground in Sinks Canyon early this afternoon. Sheriff and Lander Rotarian Skip Hornecker and his wife Margie had been helping moving cattle up Fairfield Hill earlier in the day and arrived at the picnic with the horses, and gave each of the visiting Indian Rotarians a ride, much to their delight.
After lunch, the group toured the Sinks and the Rise and then were treated to a tour of Dave and May Raynolds Bison Ranch in Sinks Canyon.
On Monday, the group will tour local attractions, including the South Pass City State Historic Site, and then Monday evening participate in the annual Gavel Exchange, this year in Riverton, where the new leadership of the Lander and Riverton clubs take their offices.
The visiting Rotarians are Bijay Srivastava, Mahendra Gupta, and Pradeep Kumar Singh and his wife Meenu.
