Identity of six-year-old girl killed in horse riding accident released; She lived in Cheyenne
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan has identified the victim of Saturday’s fatal horse accident as six-year-old Cassidy Linn Cooper of Cheyenne. McAuslan said Cooper was visiting Riverton with her family over the Father’s Day weekend when a horse she was riding near North Eighth West was apparently spooked, it reared and Cooper fell the ground and the horse fell on top of her.
“This was a very tragic accident,” McAuslan said. “It has been ruled as an accidental death by the coroner’s office.”
Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee said his department also investigated the case and agreed with McAuslan’s assessment. “She was being led around on a horse and for some unknown reason, the horse spooked and fell backwards. “It’s just a very unfortunate accident.”
Cassidy was rushed to Riverton Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Funeral Services for the little girl are pending at the Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.
