(Lander, Wyo.) – Today’s law enforcement roundup from around the county.

Fremont County Sheriff’s Office

Terry Belden, 47, Shoshoni, Contempt of Court.

Undersheriff Ryan Lee released a statement about a 33-year-old Kinnear woman who remains hospitalized after a Sunday evening collision on Highway 26 and Diversion Dam Road. “Deputy Sheriffs had been called to a residence on Diversion Dam Road Sunday afternoon for a reported domestic dispute between the woman and her boyfriend; the man was the reporting party in the incident,” Lee wrote. “Upon arrival, Deputies were informed the woman had fled the area in a vehicle after making several comments about harming herself.”

“A Wyoming State Trooper was stationed near mile post 99 on Highway 26, and observed the woman and her vehicle approach his location,” Lee continued. “The Trooper then observed the vehicle cross the center line and veer off the opposite side of the highway, through the borrow ditch and right of way fence.

“When the Trooper reached the woman he observed she had a gunshot wound to the head. The woman was taken by ambulance to the Lander Hospital.

“The investigation at this point has determined that the gunshot wound appears to have been self inflicted.

“The exact timing of the gunshot is unknown at this time. We do not know if the injury occurred while she was driving the vehicle, or immediately after the collision; that is still unclear. The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

“The Sheriff’s Office has not concluded our investigation and we are still looking into this, therefore additional details are not available. The names of those involved are also being withheld.

“It is my understanding she is in critical condition at an undisclosed medical facility out of state. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation into the incident, while the Wyoming Highway Patrol has been investigating the actual highway collision.”
