Utah Jazz star Jeremy Evans holds clinic with kids in Lander

(Lander, Wyo.) – Utah Jazz star and 2012 NBA Slam Dunk Champion Jeremy Evans visited Lander today to lead a basketball clinic this afternoon.

Evans, 6′ 8″ and 200 pounds, told the kids to do their homework, listen to their parents and try hard before the clinic began. Evans was second in this year’s Slam Dunk Championship, but this was his third trip to Lander.

Evans and staff led the children through passing drills, pushups and laps. By an overwhelming vote the kids decided to play some trivia where the lucky winners got to play one-on-one with him briefly. The clinic was held in Gannett Peak Elementary School’s gym.

The 2012-13 season was Jeremy’s 3rd in the NBA and 3rd with the Jazz.  He was selected by the Utah Jazz in the second round (55th pick overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft.  He is the first-ever Jazz draft selection from Western Kentucky and the 43rd NBA player ever drafted out of WKU.  He was the first WKU player drafted since Boston’s Courtney Lee (by Orlando, 22nd overall pick in 2008 NBA Draft).
