Rocky Mountain Oncology Center breaks ground on $2 million facility in Lander

(Lander, Wyo.) – Rocky Mountain Oncology Center has announced the expansion of its Lander facility, scheduled for completion in 2014. A groundbreaking ceremony for the $2 million facility expansion, located at 15 Shrine Club Road, was held Tuesday evening.

The building expansion will add a radiation oncology wing to the existing space, making RMOC the first and fully comprehensive cancer care facility in Fremont County.

“We look forward to being the first to offer our patients additional diagnostic and treatment options not currently available in Fremont County,” said Dr. Joseph Rosen, Medical Oncologist at Rocky Mountain Oncology Center. “The addition of radiation oncology to our current list of services will enable us to further devote our efforts to the people of Wyoming and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to quality, patient-centered care.”

The facility expansion is expected to be completed by fall 2014 and will be staffed by Rocky Mountain Oncology’s Dr. Joseph Rosen, Dr. Robert Tobin, Dr. John Purviance, Dr. Carmen Pisc and physician assistant Toni Patik.

“At Rocky Mountain Oncology, our mission is to offer patients in Fremont County the expert care and services our team is known for,” said Dr. John Purviance, Radiation Oncologist at Rocky Mountain Oncology Center. “We’ve recognized the need for full services in this area of Wyoming and with the new wing, which will provide extensive radiation therapy services, we will reduce patient travel and keep all treatment where it matters most — close to home.”

Dr. Rosen has been a crucial member of the team since 2009, providing leading-edge medical oncology care to residents of Wyoming. Dr. Purviance will offer radiation oncology at the new center along with his expertise in partial breast irradiation, brachytherapy, IMRT, and stereotactic radiosurgery. Toni Patik is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and has more than 10 years of patient experience.
