G&F seeking leads in Riverton deer poaching case; Buck deer shot near town Monday morning

(Lander, Wyo.) – Riverton Game Warden, Allen Deru, is seeking information about an adult buck mule deer illegally shot in Riverton Monday morning, Sept. 23. This crime took place at approximately 10:50 a.m. near Riverview Road just south of the Old Fellows Cemetery on private property.

Deru does have some leads in the case, and the investigation is ongoing. He urges anyone with information about these crimes – even if it is second hand – to report it to the Stop Poaching Hotline at (877) WGFD-TIP, the Game and Fish website at wgfd.wyo.gov or call him directly anytime at 307-856-4982.

“We have some good information to work with so far and we are hopeful we can build a case and charge these violators,” Deru said. “You never know which piece of information can lead to the successful completion of a case like this and any information is helpful.”

He adds callers may be eligible for a cash reward up to $5,000 if the information leads to a conviction and callers can remain anonymous. “So even close acquaintances to the violator who are disturbed about the crime can call without having their identity revealed,” he said.
