5 quick and easy home improvement projects for the weekend!

(Lander, Wyo.) – I absolutely love this time of year. Once the temp hits 60 our county really starts to liven up a bit! Two Saturdays ago there were people walking their dogs in t-shirts and sandals – followed by a snowy Sunday with lots of shoveling. Gotta love spring in Wyoming! But the snow free days really get me excited for the warmer weather. And with that excitement comes major spring cleaning and organization!

Who says home improvement projects need to empty your savings account or take up your entire weekend? We have five quick and easy tips that are sure to perk up your home! (Some of these you can tackle after work. I’d suggest #2 and #5!)

# 1 – This first tip won’t cost you a dime (unless you don’t have a rake). Fix up your yard!

Yeah, yeah you didn’t have time to pick up your leaves before the first big snow storm hit last fall. It’s okay! You weren’t the only one. Doing it now will get you excited for spring and make your neighbors happy! All you need is a positive attitude and a rake. You can borrow one from a friendly neighbor (yes they do exist) or pick one up at Ace Hardware.

# 2 – Clean out your fridge!

I think it’s safe to say we’re all a bit guilty of this. If you’re not, well more power to ya! Take an hour or two this weekend to pull everything out and give your fridge a good wipe down. You’ll be surprised at what hides way in the back! And, you’ll have dinner covered with all the goodies you find.

# 3 – Add a little fun to your bathroom by installing refurbished items as towel hangers.

You can find old doorknobs at antique stores or The Barn in Lander. Old doorknobs aren’t your thing? That’s okay, this Pinterest board has other great ideas including wine racks for rolled up towels. You may be surprised with what you already have lying around the garage that can really spiff up your bathroom.

# 4 – Add instant curb appeal to your home with new house numbers!

You’ll need supplies and time for this one but the finished product is worth it! This post will walk you thorough creating beautiful house numbers. I’ll warn you, it looks like it could be a time intensive project. If you aren’t that crafty (and a bit lazy) you can buy the numbers pre-made and attach them to a sign.

# 5 – What’s the number one easy way to perk up your home this week? Add fresh flowers!

I picked up these daffodils from Safeway. Special Arrangements and Mr. D’s in Lander have great flowers as well! Nothing quite brightens up your home like a burst of yellow and the sweet scent of spring!

Bonus Tip: Scrub your grill!

I know a handful of people who cook on their grill year round. Someday I hope to join them, but for now, I let me grill sit unused all winter long. If you’re like me, it’s time to clean it! You can buy grill cleaning supplies at a number of Fremont County spots. Nothing says summer like burgers and steak on the grill! The sooner you clean it the sooner you can use it! And don’t forget the charcoal or propane.
