WRTA Transportation Manager resigns; Eastmond to take military job in Cheyenne
(Riverton, Wyo.) – The Transportation Manager for Fremont County’s only regularly scheduled public bus system has resigned to take a new job in Cheyenne. Ben Eastmond has been at the helm of the Wind River Transportation Authority since April of 2012. He submitted his resignation last week.
A veteran, Eastmond came to Riverton after serving as the Transportation Operations Officer for the Kansas Army National Guard and he’ll be rejoining the mililtary as a Management Analyst for the Wyoming Army National Guard’s Maintenance Division. Eastmond has 20 years of military service, including a tour in Afghanistan.
“My wife Jaime has been working in Cheyenne about a month now because she could not find work here, and that was a reason why I decided to leave,” he said. “I will miss Riverton, I made a lot of friendships h ere. I like the town.”
Eastmond’s last day is May 16th.
WRTA Bus Lines operates under the umbrella of the Fremont County Association of Governments, and a search for Eastmond’s replacement has begun.
“The state of WRTA is good,” Eastmond said. “Our regular route system is maintaining, we’re exploring some new route possibilities and we’ve tried some that didn’t work. It’s an ongoing process.”
WRTA buses run between Riverton, Hudson, Lander, Kinnear, Ethete, Fort Washakie and Arapahoe on a Monday-Friday basis. The bus lines also offers charter service. For specific route information, click here.
