Police Blotter: Arrests; Two drunk drivers caught; Taxi smashed in crash; Woman tracked down her stolen cell phone

(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Here is Wednesday’s recap of law enforcement activity around the county during the past 24 hours. All those cited or arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
Riverton Police Department
Charles Jones, 33, Pavillion, Driving While Under the Influence, .15 percent BAC. Jones was found sleeping behind the wheel of his vehicle with the keys in the ignition in the parking lot at Bealls Department Store.
Paul Bell, 52, St. Stephens, Public Intoxication
Myron Nipwater, 36, Laner, on a Probation Revocation
Guy SoundingSides, 26, Riverton, Driving While Under the Influence, No Drivers License, and on a Failure to Appear warrant. SoundingSides was detained by police following a traffic stop on Birch Avenue in the Wind River Estates.

Ronald Loneman, 55, Ethete, on a Failure to Appear warrant
Police were called at 10:48 a.m. for a suspicious circumstance. A caller said a man and a woman in the 1400 block of East Fremont appeared to be crushing and snorting something. When officers arrived and contacted the pair, they were told they were doing “wellbies”, which is slang for Wellbutrin. The female had a prescription for the medicine. Police found the two had a blue and clear pill crusher with them. No action was taken.
A fight was reported at RHS on Tuesday, but no report had yet been filed.
Likewise, there was no report of a traffic collision reported at 5:26 p.m. in the 700 block of East Park.
A female volleyball coach at Riverton Middle School called police after school Tuesday to report that while she was coaching, some had taken her cell phone from the locker room. She said she engaged the “Track my iPhone” feature and discovered the phone had migrated to the 500 block of East Jackson. At that moment, officers were called away on another incident so the coach went to the address and reported later that she got her phone back.
A taxi-cab and another vehicle were involved in a crash on West Main Street Tuesday night around 6:30 p.m. The vehicle at fault was listed as a white 1999 Chrysler Town and Country van and the other vehicle was a 2007 white Dodge. An ambulance was called to the scene. Air bags were deployed. The white van was an Ace Taxi vehicle. Damage was listed at over $1,000 necessitating a state accident report.
Officers were called to the area of Big Kmart and Walmart Tuesday evening on the report of a male and female going through the parking lots checking for unlocked vehicles. Officers contacted the two who denied doing that and said they didn’t have any money for a room at the Comfort Inn so they were heading to another motel. The two were moved along.
A minor vehicle mishap was reported in the parking lot at the Sundowner Station Restaurant where a 2012 silver Town and Country registered in Montana bumped a white 2013 Ford F-150, which was also registered in Montana. Only a minor scratch was reported.
Police received a report of a sex offense Tuesday night that is under investigation.
Police were called about an alleged fight in the All Nations Mobile Home Park Tuesday night. Officers said there was a house-load of people there with a barrel in the kitchen filled with beer. The partygoers reported there had been an argument earlier, but everyone had chilled by the time officers arrived. No a tion was taken.
A family fight was reported at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Major Avenue. When officers arrived, they could hear yelling from a top floor apartment. Upon investigating, they found two males and a female in the apartment arguing over a text message that one of the males had received. The parties had been drinking. No action was taken and they were told to quiet down.
Riverton Police Captain Eric Murphy also announced today that a new officer will be joining the RPD as of Monday. Tyler Larsen, 24, of Riverton, will start his training next week. Larsen was at the PD this morning to be outfitted with his uniform, etc. “He’ll be a great addition to the force,” Murphy said. “We’re excited to have him on board.”
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office
Michael Widick, 41, Riverton, Aggravated Assault and Battery.
At 8:39 a.m., deputies took a report of a fraudulent phone call in the Riverton area.
A report of illegal dumping off North Smith Read in Riverton was determined to be unfounded.
A two vehicle crash on Highway 789 near Riverton at about 11 a.m. is still under investigation.There were no injuries.
At 3:55 p.m., a man on the 1300 block of East Monroe Avenue reported that he received a notice to vacate his property, but he says he owns. The caller accused another party of having stolen the title at an earlier point. The report is under investigation.
Trash being left at a property on the 100 block of North Seventh Street in Lander is under investigation.
At 5:46 p.m., a woman on Del Ray Drive near Lander reported a subject on a motorcycle driving too fast. Deputies were unable to locate the motorcyclist.
A Facebook squabble was reported in the Riverton area on Tuesday evening. No law enforcement action was taken.

The Lander Police Department’s administrative offices are closed today and no call details or arrests were released.
