(Casper, Wyo.) – A Riverton woman is the 14th person to be charged in connection to last week’s large methamphetamine distribution ring bust in Casper.

Joe Montoya, 40, of Riverton, has lived in Casper for eight years, but currently resides in Riverton. He is charged with conspiracy to deliver controlled substance which could carry 20 years in prison. Joe has prior convictions in Nevada, California and Wyoming.

The investigation into the organization, led by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, revealed Ernie Montoya Sr. obtained a large quantity of methamphetamine to be sold within Natrona and Fremont County, stated in court documents.

All of the people allegedly involved in the conspiracy bought and then re-distributed the methamphetamine from Preston Montoya, nephew to Ernie Montoya, Sr., according to the affidavit.

The affidavit filed in Manzanares’s case details a March 26 text message exchange between her and Ernie Montoya. He allegedly asked Manzanares if she wanted “little or big” and she asked if he was coming to Riverton. Ernie Montoya allegedly wrote “Ok thats better luv u 2 u want big or little,” and she responded “4 little.”

The next day the two were reportedly observed meeting in Shoshoni, after which Manzanares was stopped for a traffic violation and found in possession of 14 grams of methamphetamine, packaging and a scale.

Manzanares is also facing a charge of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in Fremont County related to the traffic stop.
