UPDATED: Search & rescue on-going west of Fort Washakie for three missing teenagers

UPDATE at 12:25 p.m. Winds in the area of the search have forced the fixed wing aircraft to suspend the air search. Ground forces are being marshaled.

UPDATE at 12:20 p.m. According to a report from the scene, two air assets, a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft, are flying the canyons between Mosquito Park and Fort Washakie looking for three teenagers, two boys and a girl. The trio apparently got their vehicle stuck up in Mosquito Park on Tuesday and attempted to walk to Moccasin Lake, but did not show up there. The Wyoming Civil Air Patrol is also sending a fixed-wing aircraft to the search area. It left from Casper about 12 p.m.

The area of the search is along and either side of the Dickinson Park Road.

UPDATE at noon: Based on radio traffic, a helicopter has been launched to aid in the search. Incident Command has reportedly been set up at Government Slope. The Tribal Fish & Game Office is reportedly in charge of the search, but individuals in the office declined to provide any information to County10 at this time.

(Fort Washakie, Wyo.) – The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue units are currently assisting  the Wind River Police and Tribal Game & Fish in looking for three missing individuals in the mountains west of Fort Washakie.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, WRPD requested the Sheriff’s Office’s  assistance shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday evening. The three are believed to be in the Mosquito Park area. Other published reports indicate the three missing are teens.

Undersheriff Ryan Lee reports that additional information is expected to be released later today.
