Two LVHS grads receive P.E.O. scholarships
(Lander, Wyo.) – Two graduating Lander Valley High School Seniors were awarded scholarships by the local P.E.O. Sisterhood chapter, totaling $3,500. The awards were presented by Chapter Q representative Carol Campbell at an awards ceremony earlier this month.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international philanthropic and education organization that promotes increased education opportunities for women.
The prestigious P.E.O. STAR Scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year was presented to Kennedy Thatch, the organization said in a news release. Miss Thatch is the daughter of David and Sydra Thatch. She was recommended for this scholarship by Chapter Q of Lander. Kennedy will attend Michigan State University where she has plans to study medicine and pursue her love of dance. The scholarship is $2,500 and is given based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success, the organization states. Kennedy is one of three to receive the scholarship in Wyoming this year.
Chapter Q also gave a local $1,000 scholarship to Colby Voxland. Colby reportedly plans to attend Casper College to major in pre-med and be a member of the CC Livestock Judging Team.
