Lander’s Jessie Allen crowned Miss Wyoming

(Sheridan, Wyo.) – Congratulations to Lander’s own Jessie Allen, the newly crowned Miss Wyoming! Miss Wyoming Scholarship Foundation President Zoila Pacheco Perry said Allen was crowned Saturday night at the annual pageant.

Jessie Allen, 24, is the daughter of Jim and Mary Allen of the Diamond 4 Ranch near Lander. Jessie’s Sister, Holly Allen, was crowned Miss Wyoming USA in 2012.

“I’ve spent about half of my life with no electricity,” Jessie is quoted on the Miss Wyoming website, speaking of her summers spent in the mountains horseback riding and working with visitors. “I like it because I’m not reliant on (electricity).”

Jessie is a University of Wyoming graduate and plans to get a Masters Degree in business administration and to run the family ranch one day.

Jessie will represent Wyoming in this year’s Miss America Pageant in September in Atlantic City. Jessie recently became a certified yoga instructor after a course in Thailand, where she practiced yoga on the beach, the pageant states. With any luck, she’ll get to try out the Atlantic City beaches. The avid traveler has also been to New Zealand and across Europe. “I’m constantly looking for new opportunities to become more well-rounded,” she said.
