Pavillion Working Group to meet with DEQ & Oil & Gas Commission next Thursday

(Pavillion, Wyo.)  – On Thursday, June 12, 2014, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (OGCC), will be hosting a Pavillion Working Group meeting at the Wind River Recreation Center.

This meeting will provide updates regarding the investigation of pits, oil and gas exploration and production well integrity, and domestic water well sampling.

In addition, a brief update will be made about the cistern systems for the Pavillion East Water Supply Project.

The meeting will begin at 3:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend and will be given an opportunity to comment.

In a report to Working Group members last month, the Wyoming DEQ said Acton Michelson Environmental (AME) was selected to assist the agency in continuing work to investigate domestic well water quality and identify parameters that might cause palatability or toxicity issues in certain wells in the East Pavillion area.

Work with AME began on May 12th on the following projects:

• To develop the Quality Assurance Project Plan and Sampling and Analysis Plan that contain the procedures for water well sample collection and laboratory analysis,

• Develop the downhole video recording work plan that describes the procedures for downhole video recording of water wells.

Upon completion, these documents will help guide DEQ’s efforts to:
• Meet and consult with well owners, evaluate site conditions, evaluate sample collection points, and wells to be video recorded using a downhole camera,
 • Collect water samples and complete laboratory analysis of samples,
• Record water well conditions using a downhole camera.
Well owners were notified that DEQ intended to begin performing this work before the end of May.  Well owners are to contacted to begin to schedule dates for consultation and site evaluation, sample collection, and downhole video recording of wells.
