Red Flag warnings up today through Saturday for much of Central and Western Wyoming
(Riverton, Wyo.) – The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Riverton has issued a Red Flag Warning for today, Thursday and Friday afternoons and early evenings for wind and low relative humidity. This latest update was posted at 2:46 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A Fire Weather Watch for the Cody Foothills has been posted for Thursday and Friday afternoon and early evening for wind and low relative humidity. Red Flag warnings have also been posted for the Owl Creek Mountains, east and west, the Rock Springs to Rawlins area along I-80, and in Natrona County.
Wind and low relative humidity will combine with critically dry vegetation to result in dangerous burning conditions for today, Thursday and Friday afternoons and early evenings. The time frame for the wind to combine with the low relative humidity for potential critical fire weather conditions will be from noon through 9 pm Wednesday, noon through 9 pm Thursday and again from noon through 9 pm Friday. Additionally, there will be a chance for an isolated dry thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon and evening.
