Parade Day 5K, cycle or swim is just around the corner!

(Riverton, Wyo.) – This Saturday morning, join Fremont County residents in the first annual Go Fremont County Parade Day 5K, Cycle or Swim in Riverton.

Each event starts at the same time, however, participants can form a team to compete in all three events for best overall times.

Instead of a sprint triathlon, the individual events include a 5k run or walk, a 25-mile bike ride and a 606-yard swim. Whether participating as an individual or on a team, each participant will do just one of the three events.

Event organizers are planning many post-race fun activities including a breakfast provided by Sage West for participants, fitness and health demonstrations, and lots of music in an atmosphere geared for the entire family.

There are prizes for everyone! You don’t have to bike, walk, run or swim to come and enjoy the day!

This is the fourth-annual Go Fremont County event and the first that is an off-shoot of the group’s previous triathlon format which was affected this year because of construction on Riverview Road in Riverton.

The bike course will be a circular route which will have participants start from the Fremont Therapy Group parking lot across from Riverton High School, ride toward Paradise Valley Road, turn north and cycle to Burma Road and back to the start-finish line in Riverton. The swim will take place in the Riverton Aquatic Center pool at Riverton High School.

Organizers said the event is continuing a tradition of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in Fremont County and to raise money to support two causes, The Steve James Family fund for a heart transplant and the reconstruction of the Darcie Zimmer Memorial Trail.

The event begins with race-day registration and pre-registration packet pickup at 6 a.m. in the Fremont Therapy Group parking lot in Riverton.

All events start at 7 a.m. Participants will be reconvening in the late afternoon for the Ride of Fame on the Parade Day 5K, Cycle or Swim float in the Fremont County Fair Parade, which starts at 6 p.m.

Registration forms for teams and individuals are available at
