Autopsy inconclusive on Riverton woman; Alcohol withdrawal cause of Hurtado death
(Riverton, Wyo.) – The cause of death of 53-year-old Carlene Headley who was found unresponsive in Riverton Monday morning will wait on completion of toxicology and other tests, Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Stratmoen reported Wednesday. The woman was found in a Riverton home. “The preliminary autopsy results did not reveal a cause of death. There was no overt visible cause of her death,” Stratmoen said.
The death of 39-year-old Shannon Hurtado has been ruled natural following the receipt of relevant toxicology tests, Stratmoen said. According to a Verdict and Case Docket, Hurtado’s death on June 7th was ruled “Ethanol Withdrawal due to Chronic Alcoholism.” The relevant toxicology indicated there was no alcohol in her system, but the tests were positive for Cannabinoid, or the active ingredient in marijuana.
