Officer involved in Tuesday’s fatal shooting is on administrative leave

(Ethete, Wyo.) – The Department of the Interior has confirmed that the officer involved in Tuesday evening’s fatal shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.

“This is standard practice for an officer involved shooting,” Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs Spokeswoman Nedra Darling said in an email to County10. The Department of the Interior oversees the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Wind River Police Department. The identity of the officer has not been released.

Darling referred all other questions about the event to the FBI, which is leading the investigation into a shooting in which a federal officer is believed to have fatally shot a suspect in a weapon offense call. The FBI has not released much about its investigation at this time. Read the latest here.
