Mark Stratmoen Republican For Fremont Co Coroner

A vote for EXPERIENCE is the best way of insuring that the people of Fremont County obtain the best service in the time of loss.

Experience: DEPUTY CORONER for 15 years- Including: DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATOR for 10 years, and CHIEF DEPUTY for 7 years

Also: Medical-Legal Death Investigator for Federal DMORT Region 8 (deployed to Hurricane Katrina), experienced Mass-fatality Response

Awarded Coroner of the Year in 2009 from the Wyoming Coroner’s Association & Wyoming Peace Officers Association

Respect: The Coroner works for the deceased, the family and the people. During what is probably the worst time for families, people deserve the best and most experienced efforts. Compassion and Respect are integral parts of determining justice for the deceased and closure for the families in a time of loss.

As Chief Deputy: In my seven years as Chief Deputy, it has been my honor to serve the people of Fremont County during difficult times. I have worked as the first and only full time deputy for the department, and worked in close cooperation with all County, State, and Reservation Law Enforcement agencies and given testimony when necessary.

I have been the lead investigator on over 400 cases, and worked with Coroner McAuslan closely on the balance of other major cases during that time.

After Coroner Basic at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy, I have completed over 600 hours of Death Investigation related training, and as a Medical-Legal Death Investigator for the Federal DMORT response team obtained additional training, and experience in mass fatality situations and Incident Management.

Even in cases that do not involve homicide, suicide, or accidents, it is critical that for a natural death, families receive every best effort to obtain the answers that they need to understand and obtain closure when faced with the death of a loved one.

As Administrator: In my ten years as Administrator, I have overseen day to day operations, monitored budgets, presented training programs, and coordinated response to fatalities and major incidents. I have worked to modernize, computerize, and make accessible to the over 7,000 case files that the coroner’s office has, going back to 1885. This effort not only helps historical and family research or questions on past events, but assists other agencies in obtaining the data they need for grants and prevention efforts within the community.

I understand the statutory obligations of the Coroner, have knowledge of applicable law, both in practice for the office and in relation to public rights. I have assisted in the legislative process and in helping the State Board of Coroner Standards to develop a set of rules to increase the quality and professionalism of the coroners in the State of Wyoming.

One always hopes that many of the more drastic cases or situations that need a coroner would never occur, but I believe the public deserves an elected official that is prepared for all contingencies or events. It would be my honor to continue to serve the people of Fremont County.
