Wednesday, Aug. 13

Utah Jazz Basketball Clinic – The Lander Parks and Recreation Dept. will have a Utah Jazz player here for a short clinic. It will be August 13, at 5:30 to 6:30 at the Starrett gym. This is a FREE event for all ages. The first 40 kids will receive a free t-shirt. Come meet Utah Jazz guard Ian Clark #21.


Thursday, Aug. 14

Root Beer Floats with Sen. Mike Enzi –  Join US Senator Mike Enzi for a free Root Beer floats this coming Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4-5 pm at the front lawn of the Intertribal Center at CWC in Riverton. Please invite your families and staff as well. Debates at CWC Little Theatre will follow later on Thursday evening.


Friday, Aug. 15

Brain Drain – The annual Brain Drain race to benefit the Brain Injury Alliance of Wyoming gets started at 6 p.m. Entry into the race (with divisions ranging from a 1 mile walk to a 10k run) is $25. Pre-registration is required to receive a shirt. The race will be followed by an ice cream social, live music and prizes. For more information, 335-6849 or


Saturday, Aug. 16

LVFD Breakfast and Dedication Ceremony – The annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast kicks off at 7 a.m. Cost is $5/adults and $3/kids. At about 9:30 a.m., the fire department will hold a retirement ceremony for the old ladder truck and a dedication ceremony for the new.

Cistic Fibrosis Walk & Fundraiser – Kaitlyn Griffin will be hosting a cystic fibrosis walk for the cause event! It will be at Riverton High School Track starting at 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. maybe longer!

Jade Lake Picnic and Trek – Last in a three part series featuring the hidden gems that make up the unique geology of the Dubois area, this trek is a free hiking tour of Jade Lake starting at 9 a.m. Meet at the Dubois Museum. Participants will carpool to Brooks Lake. Bring lunch, plenty of water and wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots. Call 455-2284 for more information.

RiverFest 2014 – Art and Live Music in Lander’s beautiful riverside City Park. Colorful artist booths will feature local and regional arts and wares 10-8pm, with 3 live bands starting at noon. Come see artist’s demonstrations, children’s activities, and savor the food and spirits from local eateries.

Craig Johnson Book Signing – Longmire author Craig Johnson will make a presentation and sign copies of his book “The Spirt of Steamboat” at the Shoshoni Public Library beginning at noon. A light luncheon will also be served. There is no cost but donations will be gladly accepted.

Dubois Scouts Auction and Fish Fry – Dubois Scouts are having their first annual fundraising auction at the town park at 4 pm. We have many estate items we will be auctioning off and a fish fry. This event is to raise money for the Troop.

Pioneer Association Buffalo BBQ – Fremont County Pioneer Association is hosting the annual Buffalo BBQ at the historic setting of the Museum of the American West. This fun event starts with Erica Flom playing the fiddle and the BBQ begins at 5:00pm, followed by the cookie jar auction. Adult tickets are $15.00 and children are $7.50. All proceeds go to Fremont County Pioneer Association.

Wind River Lives and Legacies Program – Esther Pickett Wells, who continues to delight her visitors at the new Warm Valley Lodge at the age of 103, will speak. The Wind River Lives and Legacies series is sponsored by the Dubois Museum Association in conjunction with its Annual Meeting. The presentation will begin at 7 PM, preceded by a light reception beginning at 6 PM and the DMA Annual Meeting (also open to the public), taking place at 6:00 PM. Free.

Lantern Mine Tour and Saloon Scotch Tasting – Catch the Night Shift: Lantern Mine Tour and Saloon Scotch Tasting! A lantern tour of the Carissa Mill, South Pass City & scotch tasting in the Miners’ Exchange Saloon hosted by the nationally known Scotch bar at the Miner’s Delight Inn Bed & Breakfast. Admission will be $40 per person & will be limited to only 40 visitors.
