Finishing touches being applied to Community and Convention Center

(Lander, Wyo.) – Workers are busy applying the final touches to the new Lander Community and Convention Center which will be opened for public inspection in just over two weeks, on Saturday, Sept. 13th at 1 p.m.  Wyoming Secretary of State Max Maxfield is scheduled to attend according to Lander Community Resource Coordinator Gary Michaud.  As a member of the State Loan and Investment Board, Maxfield supported construction of the center.

The new facility replaces the former community center, which was destroyed by fire just over two years ago.

On Tuesday, a crew from Sprouts Greenhouse was busy installing landscaping in front of the new center, while finishing touches were underway on sealing masonry work on the front entrance to putting up the last of the light fixtures inside the grand room. Other features are nearly ready as well, including a special lobby installation depicting the Popo Agie River, plus a fireplace out on the patio.

“We gave a special tour for the Senior Citizens Center just last week. We were expecting around 10-15 people and about 100 showed up,” Michaud said. “There is a lot of interest in this new facility and we can hardly wait to show it off.”’s Ernie Over got a sneak peak of the new center on Tuesday, and shares some selected photos with this post. “We don’t want to spoil the surprise for the general public,” Michaud said.

To see the other features of the building, plan to attend the open house on 9/13.
