Woman apparently suffered heart attack behind the wheel, crashed head-on into pickup at Fairgrounds
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Authorities believe a 51-year-old Riverton woman may have suffered a heart attack Tuesday afternoon when her Chevrolet Tahoe crashed head-on into a 2014 Ford Raptor pickup on Fairgrounds Drive just west of South Federal Boulevard.
Captain Eric Murphy said the driver of the pickup truck saw the vehicle coming at him, and noticed that the driver was slumped over the steering wheel. He abruptly stopped his pickup and began backing up as fast as he could, but was struck. Murphy said RPD officers and Fremont County Sheriff’s Deputies both responded and took turns giving the woman CPR until the ambulance could arrive.
The woman was taken to SageWest-Riverton and then taken by air ambulance to another medical center. Murphy said he did not know the woman’s condition.
“The male driver was really driving aware,” he said. Damage was over $1,000 to the vehicles involved.
