Police Blotter: Arrests; Rash of fraud calls this morning; Possible child abuse under investigation
(Fremont County, Wyo.) – Here is the Wednesday’s recap of law enforcement activity around the county. All persons arrested or cited are presumed to be innocent until convicted in a court of law.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office
James Neal Abeyta, 30, Billings, Mont., Contempt of Court Warrant.
Triston Ehle, 18, Riverton, Drug Court Arrest.
Fremont County Deputy Michael Phillips said that he’s handled two reports of fraudulent calls from people claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House. He said in both instances the calls were from an international number containing the number sequence “1876.” The victims were told they had won $2.5 million and a brand new Mercedes Benz. They were told they needed to put $4,500 on Green Dot cards to pay for taxes on their winnings. Neither of this morning’s victims fell for the fraud.
A sexual assault report that came in to Lander Police was forwarded to the Sheriff’s Office. The report is under investigation.
At 9:25 a.m., a caller on North Main Street in Pavillion reported that tires were slashed on a vehicle. The vandalism is under investigation.
A single vehicle wreck on the Loop Road is under investigation. A 44-year-old Lander woman reportedly rolled a company’s dump truck. She was transported to SageWest-Lander via private vehicle.
At 12:17 p.m., the Wind River Police forwarded a call to the Sheriff’s Office about an 11-year-old girl driving her intoxicated mother around the Cozy Court Trailer Court. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle in question.
A juvenile motorcycle rider was given a verbal warning Wednesday evening in Dubois after someone reported that he was driving reckless.
Various tools, including a jack, were reported stolen from property on River Lane outside of Riverton.
A pair of intoxicated individuals were reportedly causing problems outside of the Wind River Casino at about 9:30 p.m. Deputies escorted the couple away from the area and there were no further issues.
Riverton Police Department
Tlana Jealous, 22, Riverton, on a Riverton Municipal Court warrant. An officer stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of East Adams after noticing the vehicle’s registration had expired. One of the occupants in the vehicle was Jealous (aka Jealousofhim) who had an outstanding warrant. The driver, a 24-year-old male from Riverton was cited for having an expired registration, an expired drivers license and for failure to maintain insurance.
Aloysius C’Hair, 43, Riverton, Public Intoxication. (.344% BAC) C’Hair was picked up at the band shell in Riverton City Park after a complaint was lodged that he was bothering another person.
Theodore Goggles, 73, Riverton, Public Intoxication (.251% BAC). Goggles had been taken to the Center of Hope but there were no beds available there, so he was arrested.

The RPD answered 34 calls for service on Wednesday
Still under investigation is a report of child abuse or neglect involving a 16-month-old boy. The child’s babysitter called the mother on Tuesday and asked if the child had ever had hives or rashes. According to a police report, the babysitter also sent a photo of the child to the mom showing the red areas. The mother told police she thought the photo looked like a hand print, and picked up the child from the babysitter and took the child to SageWest-Riverton’s Emergency Room to be checked out. The investigating officer said the photograph on the boys leg showed redness, but he wrote that it was not consistent with child abuse, the report said. The mother reportedly has changed babysitters.
Police were called at 3:04 a.m. to the South Federal Maverik Country Store for a report of three males outside pounding on a vehicle. None of the three was the registered owner of the vehicle as he was incarcerated in the Fremont County Detention Center. Police secured the vehicle and called a taxi for the three men to take them home.
An officer was flagged down at 5:21 a.m. in the 200 block of East Main Street by a motorist who reported that a female had jumped out of a moving vehicle and ran northbound. The officer discovered the woman was distraught over the loss of a family member and wanted to walk instead of ride. She was not injured. No action was taken.
A caller from the 500 block of South 3rd East told police of alleged harassment by a neighbor. The report indicated it was an ongoing problem. A report was taken.
A skateboard identified as a “Mikemo” brand was taken from the area of the Riverton Skate Park on Wednesday. The theft was reported at 6:11 p.m.
Lander Police Department
Michael Macey, 43, Lander, LPD Warrant. Aaron Foster, 31, Lander, FCSO Warrant. A 30-year-old Lander woman cited for Possession of Marijuana. The trio was contacted following a report of a gunshot sound in the area of the 800 block of Canyon Street at 9:24 a.m. The sound was later determined to be firecrackers.
Torie Turner, 29, Fort Washakie, LPD Warrant.
A minor backing wreck from the night before was reported on Wednesday morning on Main Street.
A missing person was reported at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers were cancelled before they arrived; the child had returned home.
At 7:10 p.m. a small child was reportedly found screaming for his mom at City Park. He told the caller that he had been left at the park. The boy was reunited with his mother shortly after the call.
At 11:02 p.m., a caller on Amoretti Street complained about a black Ford crew cab that was revving its engine and squealing its tires.
A fight in the area of North Ninth and Lincoln streets was reported at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. Neither the male nor the female parties would admit to officers that there had been an argument; additionally, no injuries were observed, so no additional action was taken.
