The Northern Arapaho Experience Cultural Room is hosting a closing reception for the One of a Kind Art Show on August 31 at 5:30 p.m. The art work on display ranges from oil paintings to handcrafted jewelry. All submissions were eligible for the juried art competition. Jury members were Indian Territory Co-Owner Amanda Alley, Central Wyoming College Art Professor Nita Kehoe and Former Lander Art Center Executive Director Lisa Hueneke. Winners include Best of Show Mike McRan, Merit Award Julie Ellis and Honorable Mentions Kay Abeyta, Susan Grinels, Ron Gregory, Julian Lewis and Robert Martinez. The two tops prizes, Peoples Choice and Purchase Award will be announced at the reception.
In addition to the art show, the experience room will also be hosting a book signing with local author Darrah J. Perez. It Never Happened is an anthology of vignettes and poetry that will help heal the soul. Released this year, Perez said, the book takes readers on a journey about life, hardships and how to move forward with a strong heart, mind and soul. The book signing will begin at 7:30 pm in the hotel lobby. Light refreshments will be served.
