Your invited to the 2nd Annual Elder’s Picnic

Watching community members gather to visit, laugh and enjoy each other’s company at last year’s Elders Picnic gave Lee Spoonhunter a good feeling.

“It gives you a sense of pride,” he said.

Spoohunter, who helped organize the event, is looking forward to revisiting that feeling at this year’s Elder’s Picnic which will be held September 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lander City Park. Events include bingo, door prize giveaways, guest speakers and performances. The purpose of the picnic is to honor our community elders and to give them a place to interact with their family and friends.

“It good to see everyone together,” he said. “We’re glad to do it again.”

In its second year, Spoohunter said, they are expecting over 500 participants. Free transportation to and from the event is available. Vendors are welcome. Sponsors for the event include TERO, Marathon Oil and the Wind River Hotel and Casino. Volunteers to help serve food are needed and should meet 9 a.m. at the park.
