Volunteers of America – Hiring Full-Time Service Coordinator

VOA is a faith based, non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities reach their full spiritual, emotional and physical potential and well-being through a vast array of human services that target the elderly, at risk youth, those striving to overcome substance abuse, those transiting from correctional centers, veterans, homelessness and more.

Wage: $30,000-$42,500 annually depending on qualifications. Preference will be given to Veterans

Seeking a full-time Service Coordinator to work with low-income Veteran families to provide supportive services related to homelessness prevention and re-housing. Seeking applicants with proven ability to work with potentially difficult people in a uncooperative and/or emergency situation, with effective oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, and has computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Prefer applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in human services, behavioral science or related field with one year of case management experience, or an associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years case management or related experience. Responsibilities include: conduct outreach and awareness through partnerships and collaboration with other community service providers and human service agencies; develop a trusting and helping relationship with Veterans and their families; conduct a formal needs assessment and social history on each Veteran (and family) who presents for services, working in conjunction with staff from VAMC, DVOP and LVER when appropriate; regularly coordinates intakes of new participants; develop and follow up on housing and employment plans with each Veteran; remain knowledgeable about specific resources available for Veterans, making referrals and performing follow up as appropriate; Work with the VA to determine eligibility for services and other benefits, to secure DD 214 forms and to develop linkages with other service providers.
