William “Bill” Burl Payne
(Riverton, Wyo.) – Graveside services for William “Bill” Burl Payne, 78, will be held 9:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 at Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Mike Smith from the Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Payne died October 26, 2015 at his home in Riverton.
He was born May 12, 1937 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, son of Juell J. and Lucy Mae (Knisley) Payne.
Bill married Sharon Dickman and later divorced after having four children together. On April 15, 1981, he married Ellen Rush in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bill delivered fertilizer for Simplot and retired from Kenie Drilling Co. He worked for many different drilling companies. Mr. Payne lived throughout Oklahoma, also in Tacoma, Washington for 8 years working as a pipe filler and welder and then for Brinkerhoff Drilling when he came back to Riverton from 1972 until 1974.
Mr. Payne enjoyed working on cars, tinkering in the garage, and going to auctions. He loved working drilling and pushing and especially loved his dog, Lilly.
He was a member of the Eagles for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen of Riverton; sons, Don (Debbie) Payne of Riverton and Bryan (Ruby) Payne of California; daughters, Betty Jacks of Worland and Brenda Bartlett of California; step-daughter, Iva (Jerry) Korell of Riverton; step-sons , Earland (Susan) Thompson of Riverton and Jerry Ellis; step –daughter, Lisa (Marvin) Hanson-Fuller; brothers, David (Kathy) Payne of Colorado, Joe Ross of Idaho, Bobby (Barbara) Ross of Thermopolis and Noel (Colleen) Ross of Riverton; 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his parents.
