Here is Tuesday’s recap of law enforcement activity around Fremont County. All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
Lander Police Department
John Chavez Jr., 33, Riverton, Public Intoxication and Trespassing
There were 16 calls for service on Monday
An injured fawn was reportedly attacked by dogs and was left in the middle of one of the baseball fields at Lander City Park. The fawns injuries were serious enough that the deer had to be put down by the Game and Fish Department.
Police received another call of an injured deer that was not walking well in the 900 block of Dabich. The Game and Fish Department was notified.
A case of littering and theft of services is under investigation. According to a police report, an individual left a large amount of their trash in someone else’s dumpster.
A theft of $450 from a credit card was reported on Monday from an address on Cliff Street. A man reported that he son took a credit card, rang up the charges and he later found needles and spoons in the truck. Police are following up.
A squirrel was dispatched at South Second and Cliff Streets. The squirrel was sick.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office
Nicholas Fuqua, 20, Lander, Pedestrian Under the Influence, Underage consumption of Alcohol.
There were 57 calls for service
A vehicle that had been parked on a Dubois street for the past six weeks was found to have what appeared to be a bullet hole in it.
A 9mm Desert Eagle pistol was reported missing from a vehicle parked on Cherry Street in Riverton. The firearm was last seen on October 27th.
A resident in the 900 block of Rendezvous Road near St. Stephens reported someone had crashed through their fence.
A warrant is pending for a subject in Riverton who did not show up for a court ordered urinalysis.
A citizen assist called in at 3:18 p.m. is Under Investigation. All other information was redacted from the report.
A vehicle parked in the Bruce’s Campground lot was reportedly struck by an unknown vehicle.
A male with a high blood alcohol count was taken to SageWest Riverton hospital from the 1500 block of East Monroe.
An ambulance was summoned to an address on Burma Road at 6:16 a.m. today where the caller reported her husband fell asleep with a lighted cigarette, that his head caught on fire and he suffered burns.
Riverton Police Department
Ormando Bell, 31, Riverton, on a Fremont County warrant
Jason Bell, who was being sought for a domestic assault in Riverton, eluded police but was caught at the Beaver Creek Housing on the Reservation by BIA Wind River Police, who requested RPD assistance as Bell reportedly was resisting. He was arrested by the BIA on unrelated outstanding charges. Local charges are pending.
There were 33 calls for service on Monday.
A Riverton business is reporting the unauthorized use of a Debit card. The RPD is investigating.
Two school bus fly-bys were reported on Monday, the first in the 900 block of East Pershing at 9:34 a.m. and the second two minutes later on East Washington. In both instances, police are reviewing video from the buses to identify the suspect vehicles.
At 1:42 p.m. in the 100 block of North 13th Street East, a woman walking down the street stopped and took of her shoes. A person thought that was suspicious and called it in.
A shoplifting incident at Walmart is under investigation. According to a police report, subjects left the store with a cart full of groceries and other merchandise. The vehicle was identified and police are following up.
A 16-year-old juvenile girl was listed as a runaway with the RPD. Her family has appealed for information on her whereabouts and the Riverton Police are on the watch for her. The family provided the photo of their daughter at left. Anyone with information is asked to call the RPD at 856-4891.
A man called police to report that he found a BB gun and a hand gun between his screen door and the front door. Some time later a man showed up to asked for the weapons. He had placed them at the wrong house. The guns were returned.
Fremont County Emergency Medical Services
There were 18 calls for a county ambulance on Monday.
Fremont County Fire Departments
There was one fire call on Monday, to a home on North Pavillion Road where a child had started a closet on fire with a lighter he was playing with. Minor fire damage was reported along with some smoke damage. There were no injuries.
Fremont County Coroner
There was one coroner call on Monday for a 91-year-old man who died at SageWest Health Care Hospital in Lander. The death is presumed to be natural.
