Experience the Met Operas production of La Fille du Regiment at the Lander Library on Saturday, March 2nd. The Met Opera is streamed live in our beautifully renovated Carnegie Room which has been updated with a big screen and surround sound. All are welcome and donations are appreciated.
Synopsis of La Fille du Regiment
The scene takes place in the Tyrolean Mountains near Austria. Marie is the mascot, or daughter, of a French regiment which adopted her as an orphaned child. The Marquise of Berkenfeld, who lives in the area, unbeknownst to all abandoned Marie, her illegitimate child. Marie falls in love, the Marquise wants a “better” marriage for Marie and the regiment will not allow the marriage to someone outside the troop. However, in the end all is revealed and a very happy outcome is achieved for all!
La Fille du Regiment is sung in French with English Subtitles. Production begins at 10:55am, lasting 2hrs 35 minutes with one intermission.
