High Plains Power Chief Executive Officer Marlene Morss tells County 10 this evening there are still about 800 people without power tonight. At one point today there were approximately 3,400 members without power. Morss explained there are over 20 poles and lines that are down and crews are currently unable to get to them due to the muddy and snowy conditions.
“It now becomes a safety issue for our linemen, so I am requesting that they call it a night,” Morss said. “They will be back to work early tomorrow morning. Everyone has been working very hard to restore power. When you call a lineman in and they haven’t restored everyone’s power, it really gets to them. Our office personnel worked all day manning the phones and the crews worked in inclement weather till past dark. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.”
